powerpoint-classes-online - Draw an Action Button Hyperlink on Your PowerPoint 2007 Slide

PowerPoint’s Shape gallery offers 11 action buttons (12 if you count the Custom button). As soon as you draw an action button shape, a dialog box appears to help you direct PowerPoint where to go when the action button is clicked. Select the slide (or master slide) that needs action and follow these steps to adorn it with an action button:
1

On the Home or Insert tab, open the Shapes gallery.

The Action Buttons category appears at the bottom of the gallery.
2

Click an action button.

The action button is selected.
3

Draw the button on the slide.

To do so, drag the pointer in a diagonal fashion. The Action Settings dialog box when you finish drawing your button.
4

(Optional) Select the Mouse Over tab.

Choose this if you want users to activate the button by moving the mouse pointer over it, not by clicking it.
5

Select the Hyperlink To option button.

Here you can select what to link to.
6

On the Hyperlink To drop-down list, choose the action you want for the button.

You can go to the next slide, the previous slide, the first or last slide in a presentation, the last slide you viewed, or a specific slide. To make clicking the action button take users to a specific slide, choose Slide on the list. You see the Hyperlink to Slide dialog box, which lists each slide in your presentation. Select a slide and click OK.
7

To play a sound when your action button is activated, click the Play Sound check box and select a sound on the drop-down list.

“Mouse-over” hyperlinks need sound accompaniment so that users understand when they have activated an action button.
8

Click OK in the Actions Settings dialog box.

To test your button, switch to Slide Show view and click it.

3

Find the presentation to use.

Click the Browse button and choose Browse File on the drop-down list.

Locate and select the presentation with the template you want; then click the Open button. Slides from the presentation appear in the Reuse Slides task pane.
5

Choose to keep the source formatting.

Click the Keep Source Formatting check box at the bottom of the Reuse Slides task pane.
6
